✦ The chart's sky

The planets of the chart

From Sun to Pluto, plus the Nodes, Lilith and Chiron: what each body represents in your sky.

A birth chart is not your sun sign but a whole map of the sky: ten planets, plus a handful of sensitive points, each describing a function of the psyche. The Sun says who you are, the Moon what you feel, Mars how you act, Saturn where you mature.

Here, for each body, is its archetype: its general meaning, even before knowing which sign and house it occupies in your chart.

These archetypes are the shared foundation of modern, psychological astrology (Dane Rudhyar, Liz Greene). See our calculation method →

The ten planets

Sun

The heart of the chart: your deep identity, your will and your life force. Wherever the Sun sits, you seek to shine, to fulfil yourself and to be recognised for who you truly are.

Moon

Your inner world: emotions, needs, memory and the way you look for security. The Moon describes the child within you and what soothes or nourishes you.

Mercury

The mind: thought, speech, learning and exchange. Mercury shows how you reason, communicate and connect ideas together.

Venus

Love and value: attraction, pleasure, taste and what matters to you. Venus describes your way of loving, of building bonds and of appreciating beauty.

Mars

Action and desire: energy, courage, drive and sexuality. Mars shows how you assert yourself, go after what you want and defend your territory.

Jupiter

Expansion: confidence, meaning, growth and luck. Jupiter points to where you seek to grow, to understand the world and to open yourself wider.

Saturn

Structure: time, limits, responsibility and maturity. Saturn shows where you must build patiently, face your fears and earn your authority.

Uranus

Rupture: freedom, originality, awakening and sudden change. Uranus points to where you break free from norms and invent your own path.

Neptune

Dissolution: imagination, spirituality, sensitivity and the ideal. Neptune shows where boundaries blur: inspiration and compassion, but also illusion.

Pluto

Transformation: power, death and rebirth, what is hidden and intense. Pluto points to where you go through regenerating crises and touch your deepest strength.

Points & Chiron

Lunar Nodes

The axis of growth. The South Node describes what you have already acquired, your automatisms and the comfort of the familiar; the North Node, the direction of growth your life is calling you toward, more uncomfortable but truer.

Lilith (Black Moon)

The untamed part, raw desire and what refuses to bend. Lilith shows where you will not compromise, even at the cost of unsettling others.

Chiron

The wounded healer: an old, recurring wound that, once worked through, becomes a gift for helping others heal the same thing. Chiron links your most intimate flaw to your power to heal.
