In numerology, everything comes down to nine archetypes. Each number, from 1 to 9, describes an energy, a way of being in the world. Your portrait is simply a combination of these numbers, placed where your name and birth date make them fall.
Here, for each one, is its general meaning: its bright strength and its pitfall, before you even know where it sits in your chart.
These archetypes are the shared foundation of Pythagorean numerology. See how we calculate them →
The numbers 1 to 9
1 · The Initiator
The number of beginnings and self-assertion. Will, independence, decisiveness: the 1 opens the way, leads and creates. Its strength is the courage to be oneself; its pitfall, ego and the loneliness of the leader.
2 · The Partner
The number of connection and sensitivity. Diplomacy, listening, cooperation: the 2 unites, soothes and supports. Its strength is relational tact; its pitfall, dependence and self-effacement.
3 · The Creative
The number of expression and joy. Speech, imagination, contact: the 3 shines, creates and communicates. Its strength is creative drive; its pitfall, scattering and superficiality.
4 · The Builder
The number of order and work. Method, patience, solidity: the 4 builds, organises and makes things last. Its strength is reliability; its pitfall, rigidity and the fear of change.
5 · The Adventurer
The number of movement and freedom. Curiosity, adaptability, a taste for experience: the 5 explores, travels and reinvents itself. Its strength is vitality; its pitfall, instability and excess.
6 · The Protector
The number of love and responsibility. Family, harmony, devotion: the 6 connects, cares and beautifies. Its strength is the heart; its pitfall, sacrifice and control through caregiving.
7 · The Seeker
The number of inwardness and meaning. Analysis, intuition, spirituality: the 7 observes, understands and seeks the truth. Its strength is depth; its pitfall, withdrawal and coldness.
8 · The Achiever
The number of power and matter. Ambition, strategy, a sense of the concrete: the 8 leads, undertakes and reaps. Its strength is effectiveness; its pitfall, excess and hardness.
9 · The Humanist
The number of giving and fulfilment. Compassion, ideals, breadth of vision: the 9 embraces, transmits and closes a cycle. Its strength is generosity; its pitfall, idealism and the difficulty of letting go.
The master numbers
11, 22 and 33 are never reduced: they are the master numbers. They carry the energy of their root (2, 4 and 6) to a higher tension, a greater potential that is also more demanding.
11 · The Inspired
The 2 raised to its highest tension. Intuition, vision, extreme sensitivity: the 11 inspires and awakens. A demanding ideal, between light and nervousness, that needs to be channelled.
22 · The Master Builder
The 4 on a collective scale. The 22 conceives big and delivers in the concrete: turning an ideal into lasting work. The most powerful of numbers, if it does not collapse under its own demands.
33 · The Master of Love
The 6 in total giving. The 33 puts a rare gift at the service of others: to teach, to heal, to uplift through the heart. A summit, when carried without losing oneself.
